This program introduces children to the art of lyrics,
rhyming, and song writing for books and plays at a
fundamental level.
During
an abridged telling of
Circus Caps for Sale,
children discuss the passages that could benefit from
song. Using handout workbooks, children make wordlists that
best describe each picture, talking about tempo, mood,
rhyme, and
instrumentation.
Ann Marie also performs songs written for
Circus Caps for Sale
and children see how their ideas could sound in a
musical story.
The
program is designed to encourage children to use
imagination, vocabulary and simple lyric/melody development
techniques to bring a story to life through song. It is
intended to inspire all students – including those with no
musical background – to explore their potential in the area
of song writing for stories.*
